17th of May in DC/Maryland

Each year, we celebrate the Norwegian Constitution Day with a family picnic in the outskirts of Washington, D.C. This year is no different.  Join us for a day of music, parades, children's games and free food and drinks.

May 17th is the day of the year every Norwegian child looks forward to: a magic day for parades, music, ice cream and fun. Throughout the length and breadth of Norway people come together – people of all ages, from all walks of life – to celebrate their national unity, their democracy and their traditions.

Here in the DC area we celebrate by gathering for a picnic at Carderock Park in Maryland. The event is organized by The Royal Norwegian Embassy, Sons of Norway (Washington Lodge 428), The Norwegian Society of Washington, DC and the Norwegian Church Service in Washington, DC.

When: Sunday, May 15, 2005 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Carderock Park on the Potomac River, Montgomery County, Maryland.
From Beltway I-495 take Exit 41 West on Clara Barton Parkway. Take the right exit before overpass for Carderock Park; then turn left on the overpass. Once you are inside the park and by the park entrance, turn left for picnic parking.
