Ambassador Wegger Strømmen met with the Governor of Louisiana Mr. Bobby Jindal in Baton Rouge on Wednesday 7 October. They discussed commercial relations between the two oil & gas producing states Norway and Louisiana, as well as energy policy, climate change and health care. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Lasse Seim, Consul General in Houston, Mr John Hurter, Oil and Gas advisor at the Consulate General and Mr Erik F. Johnsen, former honorary Consul of Norway in New Orleans.
On the 6th of October Ambassador Strømmen met with representatives from Norwegian companies and the Norwegian community at the Norwegian Seaman Church in New Orleans. Ambassador Strømmen and Consul General Seim both gave speeches about the Norwegian relations with the US in general and Texas and Louisiana in particular. The new Director of Innovation Norway in Houston, Mr. Bjørn Tormod Akselsen, also attended the reception. The same evening the Ambassador had a dinner conversation with academics from Tulane University about the economic and political development in Louisiana.
